Author: orlaith8 Surnames: Von Frisch, Durnin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.frisch/17.39.59/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi this is a very old posting, but you never know. My great-grandmother had a sister who emigrated from Co Meath in Ireland to New York in 1903. Her name was Elizabeth Durnin, or maybe Lizzie or Elsie. She married a man called George Karl Henry Von Frisch, who was from Geestemunde in Bremerhaven in Germany. He had arrived in the USA in 1905/6 and he was born in 1887. I'd love to find out more about George, and his life with Lizzie, and what happened to them. Did they have children? I don't think so but I'm not sure. The story in the family is that George was interned during WW1. Any info, please let me know! Thanks Orlaith Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: boneinfrance Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.frisch/242.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hallo there, and I can`t begin to tell you how grateful I am to you for sending all this information about my family. I have never known anything at all about my mother`s side of the family - I did not even know until recently that she had a brother and several sisters! I had used Family Search, and did find Frans Wilhem`s birth, registered by his mother in Amsterdam. But despite many efforts I could not go any further. From what you have now told me, I realise that I was asking the wrong questions. I thought that Johanna Louisa Sibjilla was Dutch, as my Dutch friends told me that it was a common name - but now of course I know she was born in Germany, and that she and Joseph met (I presume) in Amsterdam. What made Joseph move all the way from Lam right across Germany and right across Holland to Amsterdam I can`t imagine. On my father`s side they were immigrants too, from Ireland this time, so I have a pretty varied background. Once again, I do thank you so very much, I have waited a long long time to learn where my family came from originally. boneinfrance - by the way, my Tree is public on Ancestry, so you are welcome to have a look if you wish. 1. Wilhelm Frisch family from Juraiten, Prkuls, East Prussia
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: HeatherMNShepard Surnames: Frisch, Strenger, Behrendt, Gunter, Vorlauff Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.frisch/241/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello! Wishing you all a wonderful day! I was wondering if anyone else was researching the Wilhelm Frisch family from Juraiten, Prökuls, East Prussia? I know nothing more of Wilhelm or his wife Wilhelmine Strenger, but I do know a little about their four children; Friedrich Wilhelm Franz, Wilhelmine Auguste Lina, Louise Bertha Ida, and Wilhelm Carl Otto. Friedrich Wilhelm Franz Frisch was born 2 Jan 1853 in Juraiten and christened 23 Jan 1853 in Prökuls. Wilhelmine Auguste Lina Frisch or Lina is my third great grandmother. I have quite a lot of information on her and her family. She was born 30 Aug 1856 in Juraiten, christened 19 Oct 1856 in Prökuls, married 8 Oct 1875 in Kinten, died 1 Dec 1937 in Minneapolis, and buried 3 Dec 1937 in Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis. According to family stories, her husband, August Behrendt, had a bakery in Russ. She and her children followed her husband, August Behrendt to Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, United States. Louise Bertha Ida Frisch or Ida was born 26 May 1858 in Juraiten, christened 11 Jul 1858 in Prökuls, married Friedrich Vorlauff, and died 8 Aug 1927. Her husband died 7 Apr 1911. They may have had a daughter named Helene Vorlauff. Wilhelm Carl Otto Frisch or Otto was born 3 May 1861, christened 3 May 1861, married Therese Gunter, and died 12 Oct 1932 in Bachmann. Therese died 12 Jan 1935 in Memel. They had at least one child who was named Walter O. Frisch. Walter was born 30 Dec 1885 and died 3 Jan 1904 in Minneapolis. He was a machinist and was single at the time of his death. They may also have had a daughter named Helene Frisch. Any help would be wonderful. PS We have photos of Wilhelm, Wilhelmine, Lina's family, a photo of Helene Vorlauff, and a photo of Helene Frisch. Happy to share what we have.
