    3. On January 7th Ancestry/Rootsweb announced that beginning March 2nd, 2020, they will discontinue their Mail Lists functionality.  Upon receiving this notice Paul L. LeBlanc immediately began searching for another website that could accommodate the mailing list format he uses on Rootsweb.  After much research, he determined Google Groups was the best option.  So he has created two new public Google groups: “Our Acadian Roots” and “Our Louisiana Roots”, which between them will consolidate 77 Acadian and Cajun, 10 uniquely Louisiana, many French surname, and 32 Louisiana Parish Lists.  The new consolidated Genealogy research/discussion groups will focus not only on Acadian and Louisiana ancestors, but also on "All Early French in North America". Come visit the groups' new websites and take a look at the new format: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ouracadianroots or https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ourlouisianaroots If you would then like join either or both of them, just click "Join group to post" located at the top left of the page. If any questions or problem joining contact Paul at pleblan@aim.com If you would like to create your own "OUR ______ ROOTS" Google Group for your family or Parish/County, contact me at pleblan@aim.com .  I may have some ideas to help you get started.  In addition, we may be able to add your new group to our new and expanding research family. For more information, Paul L LeBlanc at pleblan@aim.com

    3. Thank you to everybody who has been helping me with Philip Williams (father William Williams). So far I have found that he was born abt 1832 in Demerara, West Indies which is now known as Guyana. Sometime between 1832 and 1861 he immigrated to South Australia. He married married Margaret Grant on 6 April 1861 in Port Adelaide South Australia. He died at Waterton which is now a state forest between Taroom and Therodore Queensland in 1878. My current problem is that I cannot find the ship that Philip Williams traveled to South Australia on. Can some body please help me. Kathy

    1. [French-Guiana] [Admin] The most frequently asked question of subscribers is:
    2. Manaia Alofa
    3. Rootsweb mailing lists are automatic and are managed by list robots. These robots take care of subscription requests and bouncing (rejected) emails. The most frequently asked question of subscribers is: ***************** "Why have I been unsubscribed?" Answer: If your list mail cannot be delivered for any reason, the list robot unsubscribes you after a certain number of failed attempts. (For the FRENCH-GUIANA list the maximum member bounce score is: 3) This can happen for a number of reasons - some of the more common reasons are that your mailbox is full, your spam filter is blocking the list mail, your ISP is blocking list mail from Rootsweb, you have put an automatic responder on your email.... If you were unsubscribed and did not wish to be taken off the mailing list, simply subscribe again. However be forewarned that if whatever caused the list robot to unsubscribe you the first time is still happening, it will simply remove you again after a specific number of bounces--3--(rejected list mail to your email address). But as a courtesy to all FRENCH-GUIANA listers, I can re-subscribe you manually. Just let me know. ****************** Other questions asked are: "How do I unsubscribe?" Answer: Simply follow the instructions at the bottom of every list mail message. ****************** "Why is my mail not getting to the mailing list?" Answer: Make sure that you are sending from the same email you are subscribed under. The list robot does not recognize names. It only recognizes email addresses. If your sending email address is not on the subscriber list, your email will be rejected. ****************** "Why am I not getting list mail?" Answer: Check the HelpDesk notices in the yellow box for announcements about any technical problems with Rootsweb mail. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ If you don't find the answer to your problem on the HelpDesk page you need to check if you are still subscribed to the list. You can get a list of all your subscribed to mailing lists from Password Central: http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ If Password Central doesn't include all lists to which you should be subscribed, re-subscribe to any lists that are missing from your subscribed lists by sending a new e-mail to: LISTNAME-request@rootsweb.com (replacing the word LISTNAME with the actual list name). Put only the word SUBSCRIBE in the subject and message body of your e-mail. ****************** Should anyone need further elaboration then you may give me--Yours Truly--a contact. GRIN --Manaia [List-Admin] FRENCH-GUIANA-admin@rootsweb.com My gratitudes to Lorine McGinnis Schulze for sharing.

For example, if the broken link is http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/marriages/marriage44.html, try going To http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/marriages/ or http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/. 1. [FRENCH-GUIANA] [ADMIN] Welcome!
    2. manaia alofa
    3. Welcome! I am Manaia Alofa the list administrator for Rootsweb's FRENCH-GUIANA mailing list. You can contact me personally at FRENCH-GUIANA-admin@rootsweb.com. A mailing list for genealogy queries and research dealing with French Guiana (Northern South America). I give a wide latitude to list discussion because I believe that the list is here as a research tool for you, the subscriber. However there are some things that should not be posted to the list: 1. Remember that all messages to the list are archived by Rootsweb and can be seen by *anyone* at any time by clicking on the Archives link on the Rootsweb home page. Keep that in mind and look your message over carefully before clicking on "Send". If you wouldn't want your mom, spouse, best friend, or clergyperson reading what you wrote, you probably should send the message privately. 2. E-Mail Forwards that are Virus-warnings, Jokes, Chain Letters, etc., no matter how dire, funny or how worthy the cause. If you think the list needs to hear about it, then please email me personally for my thoughts. 3. Flames or rude emails critizing another subscriber's posting. If someone makes a mistake and it is a problem, I will take care of it. This is a list for including people, not excluding them. We need to all work together to solve our research problems. .... Again, Welcome and Enjoy! --Manaia [List-Admin] FRENCH-GUIANA-admin@rootsweb.com ++++ --- mailman-owner@rootsweb.com wrote: The mailing list 'french guiana' has just been created. :: snip :: Regards, RootsWeb.com Listmaster Listmaster@rootsweb.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
