Garland, some do it for verfication as you mention, but I would rather we find a descendant of Thomas French, or John French, Samuel's brothers and test them to prove once and for all that Gideon is descended from Samuel. If we could find those and test them, and their DNA is no different from my nephew, then you might want to test your DNA to be sure that my nephew's DNA matches yours and is representive of Gideon. If yours turns out different from mine, then we might want to test another descendant of Gideon. The more that we test, the more we learn about the different branches of the family.
