Joseph French b: 23 July 1698 in Shrewsbury, Prov. of East Jersey d: 1752 Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ .. +Unknown Allee b: Abt. 1700 m: 1722 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ Howard Barclay FRENCH, "The Genealogy of the Descendants of Thomas FRENCH," Phila 1909, Vol. I, p 136-says that Joseph, son of Thomas, applied for a certificate to marry from the Friends (Quakers) and after investigation it was so granted in 1722. Deed dated February 26, 1736 "Joseph French of the town of Shrewsbury [NJ], yeoman and Allee, his wife of the first part and Thomas Morford of the same place, Esq., of the other part for 32 acres of land in Shrewsbury-" from Wilma P Sawyer. ________ I believe that these two latter entries are the basis for the data we have on "Allee" as reported in the first entry. From this I gather that "Allee" is a first name, but may be a corrupted form of another more traditional given name. Anyone have any additional data? Best regards, Hugh
