When one sees a subject line of interest, one expects to get some substantive data, only to find that some grateful recipient is acknowledging or thanking someone for a piece of information that is not cited. Everyone enjoys courtesy, but it can be limited to the two people most involved. I suppose, if one asks the question, who needs this message?, the non-genealogical message problem would be solved.
