    2. All, It has been a phenomenon to watch a gratuitous remark about New Orleans weather in a message, otherwise on a genealogical topic, take on a life of its own. We now are hearing about weather across the country on the FRENCH-List without any FRENCH content. It is a wonderful thing to watch, although it takes up time deleting the messages as non productive to the purpose of the FRENCH-List. The human mind apparently gravitates to the weather when there is nothing else to say. Someone should make a study, perhaps with a government grant, so that the mental process can be understood as to why a genealogical forum is used to give weather reports. Incidentally weather here in northern Virginia is normal for the season. Best regards, Hugh

    3. GM All, Since the Lafford talk has been put on hold for a minute, I would like to ask once again about Gideon W. French born March 27 1837 in Stewart County TN. Does anyone have info on he and Rebecca BUTTS children? I am interested in all of them, but especially George E. which was born January 1862 in Danville TN. He married Emma 'Etta' Hall on February 2 1884 in Houston Co. TN She was the dau of the Stewart County TN Trustee John W. HALL and wife Jane. John ran two-2 yr terms and died in his second term and Mr. RUSHING took over the rest of the term. I don't have alot of info on their children but here is just a little, Elizabeth b., ABT. 1861 Stewart County TN George E. b., January 1862 d., Charleston Missouri Mary Anna b., June 11 1864 Stewart County TN d., December 2 1949 Calif m., Edward Scholes William ABT. 1865 Thomas ABT. 1868 Elnora ABT 1880 By 1880 Gideon W. married L.T. on March 4 1878 (I believe her to be CARTER maybe) children listed on Census as George E. William Thomas Emaline Joseph J.C. A.E. I am not as far as the group in my family research and for that I apologize, but I would appreciate it if someone....anyone has any detailed info on these children. According to the census I've seen, 3 children were born between the 1870 & 1880 census. They are Joseph age 7 J.C age 6 and A.E. 10/12. It is most likely A.E. was born to the new couple, but Joseph and J.C. are questionable. Did they belong to another marriage of L.T.? Or were they Gideon and Rebecca's? I only have that Rebecca was the dau of Nathaniel BUTTS & Rebecca COOK and that she was b., ABT 1839 in MO and I have no DOD on her. Again, I'm sorry to keep asking about this particular FRENCH family, but I seem to be over-looked when I ask. Can our FRENCH experts please answer any of this for me? I really really would appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Have a great day!
