In some records, his middle initial is a "T" or an "I". He married a MARY ACKERMAN (born March 4, 1792 in New York) on June 22, 1808 in New York. I have not found this marriage record. In 1810, he joined the Masonic Order in NYC." Richard, Have you checked with the NYC Masonic Lodge to see if they have any information on your John J. French? I was able to obtain information through the Masonic Lodge in Ireland and in Washington Co. PA relating to one of my ancestors--1700 and early 1800's. Not sure what information they will have, but it might help.
