Jo Ann, If you are willing to pay for your brother's DNA test, I can't believe that they wouldn't donate the DNA for you. If you explain that the Y-DNA that we use is called "Junk" DNA because it has no purpose as to identifying a person by Health Issues, Hair or Eye color, Skin Color, etc. It just happens that the markers do not change from father to son, to son, forever. Therefore every related male of the same surname will have the exact same Y-DNA. It is the same DNA that is left on a glass when they have a drink, or their tooth brush or a tissue when they wipe their nose. The company puts a number on the sample and not a name. If you order the test kit, you can order it in the name of your ancestor instead of your brother and you get it to your brother and have him mail it in after he has taken the DNA sample. It will not be connected with him by name or address. If he has ever had blood drawn at a Doctors office or hospital, they have his DNA and they have the kind that tells all. Or if he has Life Insurance, they have his blood, too. Our DNA is easy to obtain if anyone wants it. I rather figured that he wouldn't, but it was worth a try. Neither of my brother's are willing, and have no male cousins in the French line that would be willing. Guess I'm rather "stuck out". Jo Ann
