Since there has been no Neal FRENCH otherwise mentioned, it is entirely possible for Nathaneal to be transcribed as Neal, I think it is time to build a time line for Joseph FRENCH of NJ. 1722 Joseph FRENCH b. in NJ after this date (marriage of parents). 1749 Joseph FRENCH m. Hannah HORN in NJ. 1753 Joseph FRENCH and Hannah have son, Lafford in NJ. 1754 Joseph FRENCH and Hannah have daughter, Sarah in NJ. 1765 Joseph FRENCH former property for sale in NJ. 1769 Joseph FRENCH signs Regulator Petition in NC. 1770 Joseph FRENCH has removed from Anson Co., NC (had been Lt. in the Militia). 1773 Joseph FRENCH cited in Craven Co. on branch of Pacolet (Hewie petition). 1776-1783 Revolutionary War; 1780-1783 in South Carolina 1780 Joseph FRENCH sons served: Lafford, William, Joseph, Simon. 1790 Joseph FRENCH on Twelve Mile Creek, 72 acres, NINETY SIX DISTRICT, SC. 1790 Joseph FRENCH, SR. on Twelve Mile Creek, 200 Acres NINETY SIX DISTR, SC. 1815 Joseph FRENCH mentioned - Twelve Mile Creek/Pendleton Dist. I draw from this time line that Joseph FRENCH of NJ initially went to NC and between 1769 and 1770 went to SC. Joseph was on the Pacolet River by 1773. Since the two cites in 1790 were on the same date for different properties and one Joseph is cited as Sr. I assume that the Sr. was Joseph of NJ. The 1815 cite could be either. The following maybe useful-- South Carolina was organized into 7 Districts in 1769 and to nine in 1795 The 9 Districts were expanded to 24 in 1798 Beaufort District- Beaufort Ninety-Six District- Abbeyville, Edgefield, Newberry, Laurens, Spartanburg Washington District- Pendleton, Greenville Pinckney District- Union, York Camden District- Chester, Lancaster, Fairfield, Kershaw, Sumter Cheraws District- Chesterfield, Darlington, Marlborough Georgetown District- Georgetown, Marion Charleston District- Charleston, Colleton Orangeburg District- Orangeburg, Barnwell We need to look at the USC 1790, 1800, 1810 SC Ninety Six District/Pendleton for Joseph FRENCH. Please add to time line chart with enteries of Joseph FRENCH of NJ. Best regards, Hugh
