"CADIZ PRECINCT is irregular in shape and occupies the central part of the county. It is drained by Little River and its tributaries, the most important of which are Muddy Fork and Bird's Creek. . . . "One of the oldest settlers of Trigg County, whose descendants still retain a residence here, was Thomas Wadlington. . . . He moved from North Carolina and settled on the east bank of Little River, at a place now known as Kent's Bridge as early as 1792. . . . "An old German by name of French lived at the place now owned by Joel McKinney in 1822. There were a number of other families around him, so many indeed that it was regarded as a kind of Dutch settlement. They and their descendants have all moved away from the county.
