Looking at the difference in acreage received in the 1790 Pendleton deeds, I am wondering if the FRENCH family members had received land warrants for their service in the RW. The larger amount granted to the elder Joseph FRENCH could reflect that he served as an officer and the younger Joseph FRENCH served as a private--the amount of land received on the land warrants was usually based on the serviceman rank.
