[Officers resigned or moved out of the County] Lieut. Joseph French removed out of the county >> _____________ J. We know that Joseph FRENCH moved out of Anson Co., NC by 19th day of November 1770. This was before the RW. Can we place the officers: James Pickett, Captain, Joseph French, Lieutenant (removed), William Pickett, Ensign (promoted to Lieut.) and Robert Jarman, (appointed Ensign) in a community/area? Joseph, son of Joseph and Hannah (Horn) FRENCH, could have been born from 1749 on which would have made him 21 or younger in 1770. This suggests that this Joseph FRENCH was the father. Property purchased in 1769 in 96th District, SC, by Joseph FRENCH is likely the reason for removal of Joseph from Anson Co. . NC. It should be remembered that Lafford FRENCH returned to NC after his second marriage (1806), perhaps to the old area from whence he came earlier with his father. Where was the Anson County Court House in 1770? Thoughts for today, Hugh
