    1. URL for transcription of Regulators Petition on Anson County, NC site
    2. I believe the Regulators Petition, signed by a Neal FRENCH & Joseph FRENCH was from the citizens of the "old" Anson County. URL below for those who want to read the entire document. David's Joseph FRENCH, lived in Onslow County on the Atlantic and their migration was northward to Jones & Craven County. It is doubtful that this Neal & Joseph FRENCH were the Onslow FRENCH's. As I understand it, the NC east coast residents rather viewed the NC "back country" citizens as near savages. Onslow, Jones nor Craven would not have been part of the "old" Anson County. In 1750 Anson County was formed from Bladen County. At that time, it reached all the way to the Mississippi River. . . . The following counties were once part of Anson County: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Gaston, Graham, Guilford, Haywood, Henderson, Iredell, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Montgomery, Polk, Randolph, Richmond, Rockingham, Rowan, Rutherford, Scotland, Stanly, Stokes, Surry, Swain, Transylvania, Tryon, Union, Watauga, Wilkes, Yadkin, Yancey.
