    3. While searching for William French (1804-1850) in Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN I found William M. French in the 1840 US Census for IN in Dearborn County along with a George French. By 1850 US Census for IN William M. had moved to Jefferson Co. while George was still in Dearborn Co., IN I have assumed that William M and George were brothers - is there any information? Thanks Al.

    3. Al, YES!! William was the son of John "J." French and Mary Ackerman French. His siblings were Jefferson A. French, Indiana French, George Washington French, John S. French, Lafayette Porter French, James French, Loring French, and Mary French. There were probably at least two other daughters of John and Mary that I have not found. This is the family I have been researching for several years. John "J." French was my Great Great Great Grandfather. I have not been able to located his family back in New York, Vermont, or New Hampshire. The reason for the quotes around his middle initial is I'm uncertain whether it is an "I", or "J", or "T". I have seen it different ways. Could be just trouble reading the old handwriting.... Richard O. Day researching French, Graves, Allen, House, Ackerman... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eleanor and Al Maass" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 2004 8:56 AM Subject: [FRENCH-L] William M.
