    3. Here's some information from Colonial New Jersey Source Records, 1600s-1700s [database online], Genealogy.com: "1670 Dec. 30. Do [Patent]. to John ffrench of Woodbridge mason for: 1, 10 acres of upland on the West of Vaquellins [Vauquellin's?] Hill, along Israel Thorncum's meadow; 2, five acres of meadow, not yet laid out. Marg[ina]l Note: 'This pattent is transported [?] to Robert Vauquellin.' "1670 Dec. 31. Affidavit of John French, that he has conveyed land and meadow, mentioned in his patent to Robert Vauquellin." I have never before heard of a land patent being "transported." Does the marginal note mean that the land patent was transferred? Why did John FRENCH convey the land to Robert VAUQELLIN so soon after John acquired title to the land? What was the relationship, if any, between John FRENCH and Robert VAUQUELLIN, other than that of grantor and grantee of 15 acres of land in NJ? Mike Frost
