Sorry to break the thread and change the subject. I am hoping to find someone who knows this French line. Benjamin French b.1764 Saratoga, NY. Possibly his father was Samuel. Benj. married a Mrs. Ramsdell/Ramsdale or Ramsdill, who had 3 sons. William, Silas and Jonathan. She supposedly came from Connecticut to Saratoga NY and there married Benjamin French. Then they had 3 sons, John b.1784, Benjamin Jr born 1787 and Richard born 1792. John lived out his life in Saratoga. Richard moved to Wayne Co. NY. Historical notes say that Benjamin Jr. also "went West". I am trying to see if Benj Jr. relates to my great-great grandfather, Benjamin French. who was born 1807 in NY. The 1830 census for Wayne Co. lists a Benjamin French family with a male 20 to 30 who could be our Ben. The girl who became his wife also lived in Sodus, Wayne Co., NY. They were married by 1834/35 and in Michigan by 1848. I lose track of them for 1840 census. The fact that Ben Jr's brother Richard was in Wayne co NY and also Ben Jr's future wife's family were there makes me hopeful that our Ben connects to this family. If anyone has a clue about this family and a possible connection, please let me know. We have been searching and searching for our Benjamin French's family with no success. Thanks, Margaret
