    1. Re: [FRENCH] Philip French
    2. Dianna, I looked high and low for my printout of the source about Jacob being Henry French's brother. I thought I had seen a website of another family's genealogy that said something about Jacob and Henry French owning a gunsmith or blacksmith shop in KY. I print almost everything that I find online, but apparently not this page. But then I received a copy of the French Family Association Chart #31, and similar information was listed on that chart as follows: "1.6* JACOB FRENCH, b. Bardstown, Nelson Co., KY [36], m. Rebecca Paul (Paul is a German name) on 20 Apr 1773 [27] in Woodstock, Shenandoah Valley, VA [35]. He d. 1784 in Jefferson Co., KY [35] [36]. Jacob was a German Gunsmith along with his brother, Henry, and Jacob Reagar, all of whom received a lot of land. The name Reagar may have been Creagar and it may be Irish, English, or German. Jacob lived in Bardstown, Nelson Co., KY. Rebecca Paul was b. ca. 1752 in PA, d. 1814 in LaRue Co., KY [36]. She was the dau. of Michael and Ann (Parker) Paul. In 1778 in Chester Co., PA were John Paul and Benjamin Paul and Nathaniel Porter, who took oaths of allegiance [36] -could be part of this family. Jacob's widow, Rebecca Paul, m. John Stones 17 Jan 1787. " Also, thanks for the info about Philip B. French and Samuel French.
