Hi Shirley, Hopefully, Marilyn Horton can give us some more information about Phillip French. I did review my old print outs of e-mails and I see that ages ago (1998) you and I did communicate briefly. I see that you are descended from George French (son of George French and Elizabeth Sturman) and Irena Adams. I descend from Humphrey French and Julia A. Browning. It looks like we keep chasing the same information, but I haven't gotten too far. The lady in Indiana who shared some of her research with me is descended from Humphrey's brother Thomas Sturman French. I am still stuck at Henry French & Elizabeth Ersom and want to move further back. I don't know if the Northumberland, England FRENCH family is really Henry's family--I have no sources other than the databases put on the Internet. I am pretty sure that one of Henry's brothers was Jacob French. There was also a Samuel French mentioned with Henry on some court documents from Mercer County, KY. The technology keeps improving, so I have started trying to research (through Ancestry.com, etc. ) each of Humphrey's siblings to try to find clues that will lead to Henry's parentage using census records, obits, and such. I have used Marge Clark's French Family online database to give me clues on where and what to research. I try to verify middle names whenever possible, because they are often clues to ancestors. I haven't done anything with your George French and Irena Adams, but I had a great time researching the youngest brother Washington French, who had gold fever, left Illinois about 1850 and settled in AZ. Marge Clark's info says he owned a gold mine, which is true; but she also says he was never married, which is not true. He married and had 4 children. His death certificate lists "Elizabeth Stearman" as his mother (it is available online). I'm also trying to work on the STURMAN family which is mentioned along with FRENCH and ERSOM in the Portrait and Biographical Album, Vermilion County, Illinois. Hello...I have been just watching while cleaning up my files and checking old details. Shirley, I am glad to hear from you. I have changed emails a couple of times to get one I like.
