Research takes a lot of time, and we don't want to waste valuable time looking for information you already have. Do you have any census records for George? I can help with these if you don't have them. Have you contacted the New York Dept of Vital Statistics for his death certificate. http://www.health.state.ny.us/vital_records/ Did you try the search on google that I recommended? Have you searched at www.familysearch.com? At http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/? What is your source for his dates of birth and death and place of death? Be sure and write down the source of every piece of information you find. This is VERY important! Do you know his middle name? I found one source (assuming it is dependable) that gives his name as George Washington French. If that is correct, try a google search for the phrase "George Washington French." There will be more than one person with this name. Go to www.rootsweb.com, Message Boards, French, and then do a search for "Chemung." This will very likely be the same family.
