Could this be the same Samuel French who lived in Jerico, Chittenden County, Vt. in 1800? He would have to have been born about 1775 in MA. I am looking for Ezra French's father. Ezra was born in 1800 in Vermont. I find Ezra in 1850 with his wife Margaret Woodward and their children, including my ggrandfather and ggrandmother, Daniel and Jane French, in Essex, Chittenden County. But I can't locate Ezra's father, nor do I know his name, and there are 47 Frenchs in Vermont in different counties in 1800, which is the year that Ezra was born in Vermont. There are 3 in Chittenden County, but none in Essex. (I suppose Essex is the Township?) Mildred in WI

Vermont has towns and counties , no townships. There are many just over the border in Washington and Warren counties too.
