My brick wall is trying to trace my gggrandfather, Samuel French. Census reports from Town of Chemung, Chemung County, NY 1840 1850 1860 list him as born in Mass in 1793. The 1855 report lists Boston, Ma. His son William born in 1821 is listed as born on Long Island. I think three children were born in that area. In 1830 Samuel purchased land in Chemung county. The deed says he was from New York City. He had four more children in Chemung Country. His youngest was Jerimiah, my ggrandfather born in 1838. Samuel died in 1861. His wife was Francis Scott born in 1801 in Ireland. I need help in my next move. Charlie French
