Sure - That should read>> Conjecture EIGHT: Jeremiah b 1759, Chart 179, is probably the son or the grandson of Samuel b 1710, Jeremiah b 1712, John b 1720, Jonathan b 1722, Thomas b 1726 or Joseph b 1730. ----- Original Message ----- From: Mara French To: SCOTT Cc: jim french ; Charlie French Sent: Friday, March 23, 2007 11:36 AM Subject: Re: [FRENCH] New Chart #179 hmmmm, I'm not so sure about your conjecture EIGHT. There would have been almost 50 years between Jeremiah father and son. I tried to google more thru the female lines and found nothing. I think I'll put this chart online for others to see and maybe we'll get a response. I need to move on to other charts. Speaking of moving, this weekend we're moving into part of the newly renovated side of the house, so I'm going to be busy. That only brings me closer to unpacking some of the those genealogy boxes. Mara On Mar 22, 2007, at 10:24 PM, SCOTT wrote: Who is Charlie's gggfather? Who is Charlie? - See below. There are four or more Jeremiah Frenchs: (1) Jeremiah b 1712, Eng, d NY, his father is Samuel the Joiner Chart #11 (2) Jeremiah b 1759, Chart # 179, his father is unknown (see conjecture EIGHT) (3) Jeremiah b 1764, CT, his father is Thomas b 1726, CT, his father is Samuel the Joiner (4) Jeremiah b 1838, NY, his father is Samuel b 1793. Samuel is Charlie French's (Test #F13919) ggrandfather. Samuel the joiner had at least six male children: Samuel b 1710, Jeremiah b 1712, John b 1720, Jonathan b 1722, Thomas b 1726 and Joseph b 1730; any of whom could have produced male children that fathered Charlie's Samuel. I don't have Chart #11, so, Charlie, I Googled a few of the above names. What I found (unproven source) and it in no way suggests eliminating any other sibling from the search; is that Thomas b 1726 had at least four sons: David b ~1753, Peter Price b 1762, Jeremiah b 1764 and Isaac b 1770 - each, a possible father for Samuel b 1793. Again, each son is a possible father of your Samuel b 1793; but Peter Price is an exceptional candidate.... Peter died 1841, Wells, Bradford, PA - JUST A FEW MILES FROM WAVERLY, NY ---- IN YOUR BACK YARD. Peter may have had more kids, but one is, Hiram b 2mar1797, Hampton, Washington, NY. Mara, conjecture EIGHT: Jeremiah b 1759, Chart 179, is probably the son of Samuel b 1710, Jeremiah b 1712, John b 1720, Jonathan b 1722, Thomas b 1726 or Joseph b 1730. With just a little more work, we may be able to connect Charlie, Chart 179 and Chart 11 with Jacob of Assington. The DNA results from Jim and Charlie would corroborate the above connection if we can find and prove it. Umm... And don't forget WILLIAM OF BILLEICA Chart#2 as well. - Scott French ----- Original Message ----- From: SCOTT To: List French List ; french@rootsweb.com Cc: Charlie French Sent: Friday, February 09, 2007 11:57 PM Subject: Re: [FRENCH] New Chart #179 Mara - The three of us here << http://small-stuff.com/FRENCH/DNA/tree6.htm >> have at least a 24/25 y-chromosome allele marker match. Charlie French (Test #F13919) needs to find a father for Samuel French (1793-1861). If 1.3* JEREMIAH FRENCH, b. 1759 [1] in NJ had another son named Samuel following the birth of 2.5* WILLIAM FRENCH [1], b. 3 Jun 1790 in Northumberland, who of us would be surprised? It fits beautifully! And Charlie and all members of Chart #179 would probably connect to JACOB OFASSINGTON - As do all members of FFA Chart #1 - And, I think, Chart #2 as well. - Scott ----- Original Message ----- From: Mara French To: List French List Sent: Friday, February 09, 2007 5:58 PM Subject: [FRENCH] New Chart #179 The French Family Assn website has been updated to add Chart #179. http://www.frenchfamilyassoc.com/FFA/ Jeremiah French, 1759, of NJ, PA, and NY Chart #179 begins in the 1750s in NJ, and then to the town of Middlebury, Tioga Co., PA. No data further back has been found to date, but this line remained basically in Pennsylvania. From there, the family moved to Northumberland Co., PA and to Owego and Horseshead in Chemung Co., NY. But some members of the family returned to Middlebury, Tioga Co., PA. Other members of the family moved to Port Alleganey, McKean Co., PA and to Roulette, Potter Co., PA. Others moved to Olean, Cattaraugus Co., NY; Steuben Co., NY and Shamokin, Bradford Co., PA. Other townships in NY: Erin, Wellsville, Elmira,Troopsburg, East Aurora, and Buffalo. Other townships in PA: Fishing Creek, Wellsboro, Little Marsh, Delniar, Port Alleganey, Blossburg, and Clara. The men in this line were mostly war soldiers, farmers (honey, lumber), Justices of the Peace, town clerks, auditors, school directors, school teachers, general store keepers, writers, bookkeepers, and glassmakers. They were Methodists. Surnames: You may notice that some of these names are also seen on FFA Chart #1, #2, and #5, but these names are not seen until the 4th Generation. French, Churchill, Donshea, Hopper, Tryon, Martin, Hazen, VanGorder, Gildersleeve, Willis, Willetts, Perrin, Secor/Sicaird, Titus, Colley, Waller, Field, McNair, Boucher, Monk, Shaff, Smith, Williams, Palmer, Brown, Calgrove or Colegrove or Colgrove, Niles, Andrews, West, Willoughby, Morey, Donshea or Dunshie, Howlett, Doane, Hawley, Luce, Deer, Roupe. Please advise me of corrections, deletions, additions, etc. Perhaps this line will eventually tie in to one of the NJ lines. Thanks to Marion Scherer and Milton L. French Jr., for all your help.
