    1. [FRENCH-L] Re: FRENCH TN and VA 1750 - 1900

    3. Hi, The census records I have for my William Miles French say that his father was born in TN and his mother in VA, and he was born in OH. His children were all born in Cabell Co., VA, WV in the 1860's. It seems like they were going in circles. He was married to Martha DAVIS. I just found out her name was DAVIS and I don't know anything else about her, except she was born in VA in 1842. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? I don't have parents for William yet either. He did fight in the Civil War, a Confederate. He applied for his pension in Craighead Co., AR, and it was granted right away. He later applied for an increase and it was also granted. I have heard he was a prisoner of war, and that he owned 3 slaves before the war. Thanks for any info you may have.
