Taken from Catholicity in Ky, The first church station at Hardin Co. was in the home of James French where mass was said by Father Badin as early as 1804. Among the old Catholic settlers of the locality may be named William Cole, from the town of Colesburg. Mrs. Adam Wise, married to a non-catholic husband and their four children, Willis, Gabriel, Elisha and Teresa, all born during the last decade of the last century, the last named of whom became Sister Margaret of the Loretto Society.
