    1. Re: [FRENCH-L] Another French line to consider
    2. Bill, I'm very interested in your Jeremiah French. My 4th great grandfather and current brickwall is Jeremiah French, b. ca. 1759-1765, m. (1) Margarete VanGorder; m. (2) Hannah Gildersleeve; d. 1846 in Erin, Tioga Co., NY. Jeremiah French was in Sussex Co., NJ in 1778, served in the Continental Army, moved to Shamokin, Northumberland Co., PA and appeared on the 1790 census for Northumberland County as having one son over 16, two sons under sixteen, and two daughters under sixteen. Jeremiah then appears on the Tioga County, NY census starting in 1800 until 1840. I don't know who Jeremiah's parents were or his birthplace. Jeremiah may have had a brother named Nathaniel and a sister named Mary E. French. Mary E. French was born in 1761 and died 6 August, 1880 at the age of 119 years, 7 months and 6 days, and is buried in the French Hill Cemetery in Middlebury, Tioga Co., PA. This is the same small family cemetery that my third great grandparents, William French and his wife (H)Esther Martin are buried in. Does any of this sound familiar? Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Marion Scherer
