Bryan - yep! ya never know. My great uncle compiled my family's genealogy in 1939 called "Ancestors and Descendents of Samuel French The Joiner of Stratford Conn" The Family History Center in Salt Lake has a copy as do many of my relations. But there were only about 300 printed. I am attempting to up date ours and expand it somewhat to spouse's parents and mother's parent. Aint going far with my wife's as both her grandparents are from Sweden and Norway and I no habla either. My mother may be easier and I hope to resume that search soon. (Rogers). Am also in the process of converting the book to a PAF file and intend to upload it to the Family History site whenever I finish so many other may benefit from the great job my great uncle did. He went back to Dorset and Sommerset Counties in England about 1550-1600. Actually he 'sorta' traces the French family from Rolf the Norseman, baptized in 912 as Robert, Duke of Normandy. But his focal point of the genealogy is Samuel French who settled in Conn. in the early 1680s but was born in South Perrott, County Dorset, England. Hope to be making a trip to our ancestrial grounds in May and also research my grandmother's paternal side in Manchester.
