Estate inventoried in 1733 Leonardstown, MD. He was transported at the age of 21 alog with 52 other adventures who planned to settle permanently in Maryland (Patents 16:411). According to the inventory of Luke GARDINER taken in 1674, James FRENCH was one of his servants on S. Clement's Island (Inv 1:111). When he completed his term as a servant, James FRENCH married Elizabeth MEEKIN, the d/o William MEEKIN & Margaret BEARD. It was thorough this marriage that he bacame the posessor of 129 acres of "Wolver Hampton" which bordered on "Hopton Park". After William MEEKIN's death, his tract totaled 150 acres and he later received 100 acres of "Hopton Park" from John Baptist CARBERRY, another Irish Immigrant. James French and his descendants lived at "Wolver Hampton" until after the Revolution (Ref: Colonial Settlers of St Clement's Bay, Md by Sr Mary Louise Donnelly, 1996, pp 90-94). They were among the fouding famlies of St. Clare's congregation of Colesburg. Raphael FRENCH d 1851. A Hardin Co. Deed dated 3/4/1851, gives the names ofhis heirs.
