My Mary T French is American Indian, probably Cherokee. She was married in 1844 in Limestone, Alabama to John Murphy Wood, and moved to Burnet County, Texas. I have found quite a few French on the lists, and have met one lovely one, Ann, who is working for the government in Washington. I couldn't find anything until I started looking in the tribal lists. Does anyone have a hint that they , too, might be Cherokee?
