3. Marion, Thank you for the help. I am looking for a full blood Cherokee. I wonder if any of these people at Valley Forge were Indian. They were from North and South Carolina. My ggrandmother was Mary T. French, b. 1823 in North Carolina. I have found a man who might be her brother named William L. French, Cherokee name, Co-dos-ki, who's father was French Hawk-Frank French, Cherokee name, Col-lun-see Gar-lun-chi. I have hoped to find another like myself whose name came from native beginnings. It seems that the name.French may come from many different countries for many reasons. It makes for many different walls, doesn't it? Merry Christmas to everyone, Julia -----Original Message----- From: Cludy52@aol.com <Cludy52@aol.com> To: FRENCH-L@rootsweb.com <FRENCH-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, December 24, 2000 3:02 AM Subject: [FRENCH-L] Valley Forge Frenchs >There are nineteen men with the surname French listed on the muster rolls at >Valley Forge. > >The site address is: > > Index_Frame > >Good luck - and Merry Christmas! > >Marion Scherer >Chart 179 >Jeremiah French of NJ, NY & PA > >______________________________
