My heart skipped a beat when I read the subject line with J.C. French! My great grandfather was John Churchill French, however he was born in McKean Co., PA in 1856 and lived most of his life in Roulette, Potter Co., PA. I have been wondering though about those Frenchs in Ohio (as well as other places), as my great grandfather went to college in Ohio. I have no idea whether he lived in a "dorm" or if he lived with family. John's father was Nehemiah French, b. 1818 in Horseheads, Chemung Co., NY, m. Olive Churchill, widow of unk. Samson, d. 1906 in Roulette, Potter Co., PA. Does any of this sound familiar at all? Thank you for your time. Marion Scherer
