Hi My ggrandfather, Irving Ashley French, of Salisbury, MA often went to Brattleboro, VT in the summer time. We have a picture of Irving holding my father (as a baby) that was taken in Brattleboro. No one in my family knows if our MA French's just enjoyed visiting VT OR if there was someone who had moved that they visited when in Brattleboro. Anybody know of a Salisbury, MA - Brattleboro, VT connection? My Vermont French family is listed in the 1850 census for Moretown, Vt. The William French in this census shows he was born in MA. Also, on one source for his marriage to Olive Merrill, it states he is from Salisbury, MA. William was born March 14, 1785 and died December 31, 1857.
