I am looking for family information on Lydia French (1774-1850) who married a John Van Gilder on May 28, 1794. They married and lived in Cape May County, N.J. Her parents were supposed to be a Thomas French and wife Hannah Peasner or Rosner (depends which book you look in, but I am sure he did not marry them both on the same date of Nov.14, 1774 at First Baptist Church in Cape County, NJ) . Lydia was born in Jan of 1774 or 1775. I feel like the 1775 date is correct. Thomas French was single when the 1774 tax rattables were done in Cape May county. I got that information from the NJ State Genealogical magazine. That is all I know about Lydia's parents. They just disappeared after Lydia was born. I found Lydia's history in the Vangilder files. I have not had any trouble following Lydia French Vangilder and John. Their children were Sarah, Hannah, John, Thomas, and Lecitia Van Gilder. They are all buried in United Methodist Church cemetery in Petersburg, N.J. Would anyone have any info on these French's? There is a Thomas French from Burlington, NJ but he is not Thomas's father because the dates are not right. Besides the North Jersey Frenches know nothing about my Thomas.. Any help is appreciated.
