I have his parents as Jonathan French and Elizabeth Johnson. Someone said that he was not the son of Jonathan French and Elizabeth Johnson, that he is the son of Jonathan French and Eliza Swift. John French and Eliza Swift were married January 15, 1826 in Dearborn County, Indiana. George Washington French was born three years BEFORE the French/Swift marriage. So I don't believe that George Washington French is the son of Eliza and John French, since he was born three years before that marriage occurred. I did find a George French age 22 b Indiana in the 1850 census, he is living with Henry Swift and his wife Mary in Center Township, Dearborn County, Indiana. I suspect this George French is the son of John and Eliza Swift French. I did find another George French in Ripley County, on the 1850 census he is born in 1818 in Indiana, two years BEFORE Jonathan French and Elizabeth Johnson married. So I don't believe he is the son of Jonathan French and Elizabeth Johnson... I also think that Caroline Clark, Mary Clark and Robert Clark are brother and sisters. Jonathan French and Elizabeth Johnson were married August 4, 1820 in Franklin County, Indiana. I am looking for the parents of Jonathan French and Elizabeth Johnson b PA . Jonathan was probably born in PA (some records say NJ and some PA)
