Clair FRENCH and Mariah Burdett of Giles Co.. David is buried with wife in FRENCH Cemetery, Rhea Co., TN. Blacksmith, Methodist Circuit Rider. Served 1861-62 in Co. D., 7th VA Inf, CSA. Moved to Rhea Co. TN sometime between 1866-70. Was in 1880 Rhea County census. Children: Mariah, Martha, Frances, John, Henry Arthur "Ott," Walter William Allen, Anna, Rachel, Doan David and French. Had grandchildren Jesse Earl Davis and Bessie Pearl Davis Rockholt. Looking for any information about parents of D.Davis or any help with this DAVIS/FRENCH family. The name DOAN appears in descendants -- what is significance? I am hoping it may be the surname of his mother, but cannot find anything about her. Will share my data.
