Darla Wrote: <<Hello everyone, Regarding the recent posting of the estate record of Benjamin French- looked back over some old information I have and found an old note that might possibly provide more information about Benjamin FRENCH. This is an old query from GENNAM-L that I kept dated Jun 1997 from John Duling <jduling@wic.net (if he is still online, I hope he won't mind my passing on the info from his query to the group). The names, dates, and geographies seem to fit the discussion of Benjamin FRENCH...however, he does not mention the source of his information. His query mentions James FRENCH, b abt 1735/45 in PA; married Jane ?. Died abt 1822, Allegany Co MD. Will probated 1834 Allegany Co MD. Son of James FRENCH and wife Margaret ? of Lancaster Co PA. Children were Daniel, Lot (married Elizabeth MILLER), Ralph, James, Jeremiah, Mary (married Isaac LANE), Elizabeth (married James MARTIN), and Benjamin. I see brothers Ralph, James and Benjamin French mentioned above; also the surname Martin, which is also mentioned in the Benjamin FRENCH estate data; dates seem to fit ok and also there is a connection to MD. Possibly a lead??? I have no other information on this family - kept the query in the hopes of making a connection to the William French family of Parke/Vermillion Counties IN. Just passing it along in the hopes it may help someone. Brgds Darla>> Darla, I was kinda worried about putting so much on the list. I didn't want to take up a lot of space. I am soooo happy I decided to do it. Yes, this might be a breakthrough for my Benjamin French line. I could hardly breathe as I read your post! I am going to pursue this further. Thank you so much. If things pan out, I will let the list know. Sharon
