There seems to be conflicting views on just what the French Family Association is. All I know is what I have read here on this list. Most of the evidence seems to strongly suggest that this is a one person operation being run by Mara French and she apparently claims ownership of these charts. Unfortunately due to personal problems she can no longer handle these duties and the FFA has been inactive for at least a year or more. On the other hand there is some mention of it being a "not for profit" with several other officers or founding members. If so why hasn't someone else stepped up to help out ? Regardless of how it was organized, I think that all will agree that in its present form the FFA just isn't working. I'll leave others to figure out whether the FFA needs to be reorganized or a new association formed to replace it. I would be happy to pay a reasonable membership fee to support an active society. Fortunately this list includes many who are willing to freely share their French Family information. Hopefully someone will be able to tell me where my g.g.g.g.grand mother Eva Sophia French fits in. She was born 10 Aug 1843 in Huntingdon Co., PA and died March 6, 1912 in Mifflin Co. Pa. She was married to Henry J. Kauffman from 1859 to 1865, Joseph Rothrock Hanawalt from 1866 to 1877 and Leonard S. Wolfkill from 1878 to 1897. For sure the last 2 husbands were Dunkards and Eva Sophia is buried with Leonard Wolfkill at Maitland COB. Supposedly her family fits in at Chart 51 John French but I have never been able to get a copy of it to verify against my other records. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get in unraveling her history. Of course I would be willing to share what I know about her descendants with anyone interested in this line. thanks in advance ... gary grove
