    1. [FRENCH-L] Luther French Nebraska
    2. Jeff French
    3. Can anyone help me with information on Luther French. The family was in Monroe, Wis in 1861 when a son Ernest French was born. Also had a son Will (I think this is my great grandfather) was in Renfrow, Okla., a son Edward was in Suton, Nebraska, a son James was in Ray, N.D. Luther was the first white settler at Sutton, Neb and surveyed the site for the city. Am looking for any information on Luther French and his line. Ernest married Eliza Schuler in Nebraska May 2, 1885 After Ernest death Eliza married H.P. Loomis. Ernest also had a nephew Bert French; not sure which brother was his father.

    1. [FRENCH-L] Chart #5 John French of Braintree connections
    2. Ed Finigan
    3. This is just a reminder to anyone who has been researching John and Grace French of Braintree, that an excellent source of connections for related Chart #5 families can be found online at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dyer/french.htm The cited references have been an invaluable source to me in making other family connections, but I squinted over the Sprague microfilm at the NEHGS before Frank Dyer made the info available on line. Here is an excerpt from Frank Dyer's (The New England Dyer Connection) site: "Home to the "Genealogies of the Families of Braintree, Ma." 1640-1850 by Waldo Chamberlain Sprague(NEHGS) This micro-film was compiled by Waldo Chamberlain Sprague of Wollaston (Quincy), Mass. and includes families from 1640-1850 from "old" BRAINTREE and the modern towns of RANDOLPH, HOLBROOK and QUINCY after the separation from Braintree in 1792-3. The original hand written records by Sprague were put on 6,196 5x8" index cards and they were micro-filmed. This micro-film is one of the most asked for at the N.E.H.G.S. in Boston and also at the Quincy, Mass. Hist. Society. I have copied to Word Perfect "ALL" cards and made an index which consists of over 33,000 "GIVEN" names which has been sent to the New England Historic Genealogical Society to publish this collection in a CD format (SOMEDAY!!!) ============ "Vital Records of Braintree, Massachusetts 1640-1793 Edited by Samuel A. 2. Taken from Catholicity in Ky, The first church station at Hardin Co. was in the home of James French where mass was said by Father Badin as early as 1804. Among the old Catholic settlers of the locality may be named William Cole, from the town of Colesburg. Mrs. Adam Wise, married to a non-catholic husband and their four children, Willis, Gabriel, Elisha and Teresa, all born during the last decade of the last century, the last named of whom became Sister Margaret of the Loretto Society. MARYLANDERS TO KY. by Henry C. Peden WISE- Adam Wise was born in 1718 in Germany and came to America prior to the Revolutionary War, which he served in from Washington County Pennsylvania. Some of his children were born in Pennsylvania and some in Maryland

Pattie French was the mother of Doris French. Doris (a male) French married Sarah Thomas - possibly a sister of Nancy Thomas (who married Aaron French, Giles Alexander and James Philips.) My Philips family is closely related to the Levitt family. Someone wrote me not long ago asking about Louvina Hurst who married Romelon Levitt in IL 1849. Romelon probably died and Lavina (Hurst) Levitt married Mansfield Foster 1855 in IL. Interesting that in the 1850 census Nancy (Thomas) Philips has a Hurst boy in her household.
