Hi Laurie, Did you ever get your notes together? Well me neither! Well, they are sort of together, just not organized. The French family I am looking for involves William D. French and Ella Leora Misner with one son John, then his second marriage to Sophia Anne Martin in England and their five children who moved out to California from Michigan. I have a lot on the second marriage, but nothing on the first marriage date or divorce. Sure would like to find that! Linda Kay Laurie Ronan wrote: > > Let me get my notes together. A few weeks ago I bought a book at one of our local flea markets entitled "Recollections of Buffalo, during the decade from 1830 to 1840 or Fifty Years Since", by Samuel M. Welch. Buffalo: Peter Paul and Bro. 1891. Mr. Welch starts on page 185 with the names of 100 men who were prominent in the community. The author then states on page 186 - " After mature reflection, I will continue my list in alphabetical order as information for my readers, as to who were the men best known among us in the thirties. Men of brains and character; foremost in their vocations or occupations, prominent in the professional or business world and in social intercourse" On page 188 Harlow French is listed. I have only read the first half of the book and will post any other Frenchs that I find as I go along. The book is just loaded with names. Marion Scherer

For those who are interested in the French (ffrench) family of Galway, Ireland, especially from Monivea, please read on. Bill Murray is gathering data about this family for a documentary video which he hopes will be later made into a movie. He has been working on this documentary for a long time and is hoping to find a few more photographs. If you can help in this project, write to Bill Murray, 4 Green View House, Circular Rd., Rahoon, Galway, Ireland. Bill does not have email, but if you would like to send something to me, I'll print out everything and send it to him in one package, even if it's just your address indicating you have an interest in this project. Bill is mostly interested in the life of the last ffrench families of Monivea, and especially Rosamund ffrench who had relatives in Russia, and in Conrad O'Brien ffrench, who was friends with Ian Fleming. Thanks for your support, Mara French FrenchFamilyAssociation@compuserve.com

Can anyone help me with information on Luther French. The family was in Monroe, Wis in 1861 when a son Ernest French was born. Also had a son Will (I think this is my great grandfather) was in Renfrow, Okla., a son Edward was in Suton, Nebraska, a son James was in Ray, N.D. Luther was the first white settler at Sutton, Neb and surveyed the site for the city. Am looking for any information on Luther French and his line. Ernest married Eliza Schuler in Nebraska May 2, 1885 After Ernest death Eliza married H.P. Loomis. Ernest also had a nephew Bert French; not sure which brother was his father.
