    1. [FRENCH-L] Frederick French b. April 18, 1832
    2. Mark Dionne
    3. Does anyone have a record of Frederick French, born April 18, 1832, perhaps in NY, PA or VT? My gg grandfather Frederick French was born around 1831-32, probably in Hoosick, NY. Several secondary sources have given the above date, and attached it to different Frederick French's. I have yet to track it down to an actual birth record. Mark Dionne Newton, MA

    3. Hugh, Thank you for the information. I especially enjoyed the sources and notes. That is much more interesting than just names, dates, and places. I seem to have the right names but the other info I needed. It can get confusing when two generations of your ancestors have the same first name, in this case, William. William s/o Lafford and next generation is William s/o William. Oh well. Thank you again for all your help. Where have you done your research? Have you been able to do much online? I think I'll be spending a lot of time at the Family Center near me. Thanks again, Carol __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [FRENCH-L] Cherokee French
    2. Steve J. Camer
    3. There were 7 French on the Miller Cherokee Roll (Rejected). Presumably some are on the accepted roll, but I do not have it. I know many people were falsely rejected. They were Clara (OK), George (NC), Hammon F. (TN), James K (Dup of 26498?), Jane Ann (CA), S.L. and H.D. Green (GA), William L (SC). The table of contents of a new fascinating academic study of the roll is at http://members.aol.com/rarebk The site also has on-line the surname index of "Starr's Old Cherokee Families and Their Genealogy," a Cherokee Genealogy Tutorial which is a great primer on how to do effective Indian genealogy research, the 1835 Cherokee census which is within the tutorial, other indexes, and a Native American CD which appears to contain huge amounts of Native American genealogical material. Very fascinating. Steve ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! Try it today - there's no risk! 2. This Casandra was born much earlier than yours. Her father was born about 1760 or so. Married Sallie Taylor I think. She is the one person in the earlier generations of this french family I have not been able to track. I am not a descendant but am compiling all of the descendants of Hugh French of Virginia for publication at some point in the next few years. I have been saying this for some time now and hope to wind it up soon. Margaret

    2. Burgess French the son of John French and Margaret Burgess had a daughter Cassandra whom I have not located. As a matter of fact I have not located Burgess French. He was said to have gone to Ohio in a law suit in Virginia in 1834 or so. Is there any evidence Cassandra had siblings? The daughter of Burgess had sisters and at least one brother. Margaret

    3. No, I don't have any of these names. My g-ggrandfather was William M. French. He married in 1842 in Dale County,Alabama. to Christian McInnis. Later they moved to Jasper County, Miss. where I believe his Mother Harriet French lived and other relatives. I do not know where William was born. I surely would like to find that information. If you have any of this info. I would surely like to know.
