    3. Dear Ralph, There is a Michael French in Mississippi ,near Jasper County, who is trying to find out more about William M. French who was my G Grandfather. I know that William left Dale County, Al and went on to Jasper County, Mississippi. I believe that his ancestors and my ancestors are related. He says that his great great uncle lived in Al. before going to Mississippi. There was in a household a lady whose name was Harriet in 1850 census.. Evidently her husband was dead. My great -grand father was killed in 1857 and his wife Christian McInnis French stayed in Miss. until her child by William M. French was born. She named the baby Harriet. I believe that that baby was named after William M.s mother Harriet. Later, after the baby was born, Christian came back to Dale County to be near her family. Hope this is not too confusing. What do you think? On Sun, 14 May 2000 20:05:39 EDT RafB@aol.com writes: > Hello Mary Agnes--- > Your message is most intrigueing to me, for you see one of my > ggrandfathers was Joseph P. However, so far, we have been unable to find any information on his parents and siblings. either. Would it not be grand if we could find that he and your French ancestor were related? 3. I am trying to find information about William M. French who married Christian McInnis in Dale County, Alabama in the year 1842.They were the parents of James Edward, Jefferson Tillman, and Nancy Jane before they left Dale County to go to Jasper County, Mississippi, where he had relatives. For some reason they stopped near Florala, Alabama where their next child,Angus LaFayette was born January 2, 1853. Later , they traveled to Jasper County, Miss. and in the year 1858 , William M. was ambushed by a notorius gambler. His wife remained in Miss. until her child, Harriet Frances, was born August 19, 1857. Then, they came back to Dale County to be near her family. I would be so grateful for any information about this family. I am a great grandchild of William M. French. I can find nothing about where he was born nor who his parents were. Thanks, Mary Agnes Wise 1310 Choctaw Street Dothan, Alabama 36303. 2. The Bureau of Land Management Records has added approximately 2 million names to the online searchable database. The records don't include every state in the Nation, but do have a good number of the states listed. You can check by state or the entire database. Also, document images are online and you can obtain certified copies through BLM. I entered the surname French for the entire database and came back with over 10000 hits! 2. Jocelyn A. Hubbard
    3. Mark, There do seem to be numerous Frederick FRENCHs born around that same time period. As a means of elimination, I have the following: Frederick P. FRENCH, b. July 24, 1835 in New York, d. April 17, 1915 in Rochester, Monroe County, New York. Frederick P. was the son of Ebenezer FRENCH and Clarissa PORTER [ marriage record shows her as Clarissa Porter BRIDGE, other documents show her as Clarissa PORTER. Frederick's older sister, Delia was born in Troy, Rennselaer County, New York, so he might well have been born there too. The birth and death dates for Frederick P. FRENCH come from his obituary which was in the family bible of his sister Delia A. [FRENCH] HUBBARD. Frederick P. FRENCH married Eliza J. [last name unknown]. They had two sons: Elmer C. FRENCH, b. September 23, 1868, d. April 3, 1949 Frank C. FRENCH, [dates unknown]. Best of luck, Jocelyn Hubbard, Gaithersburg, Maryland
