    3. There was an entry from someone on 08/22/00 filling in a number of holes in my familly's genealogy "Ancestors & Descendants of Samuel French the Joiner of Stratford CT" published in 1940. I recently uploaded our genealogy after transcribing it onto a PAF file?gedcom. All of them seemed to fit the earliest entries in our book except for JACOB FRENCH (THOMAS2, WILLIAM 1) B 1555 in Assington, Suffolk, England d 11 Nov 1615 m SUSAN WARREN 27 Sep 1578 in Bures St Mary, Suffolk Eng. b abt 1555 dau of WILLIAM WARREN and KATHERINE b Unfortunately, I do no know who put this information up here and more importantly what the source of their information was? I would be very appreciative if the person would contact me with the information I need. Thanks Bill French Houston, TX wcfrench@compuserve.com

    3. Hi once again, we have communicated many times before. I was going thru my old e-mails, trying to fit some facts together and I came across this message from you. I just noticed the "wife died previously" and I'm wondering where this may have originated from. I have a copy of James's will and (its not handy right now) I believe in his will of 1733 he mentions his wife Elizabeth. Am I all wet? I have that Elizabeth Meekin died after 1734. 3. Help Please! I have two Martin FRENCH's and I may have mixed up their spouses. Martin FRENCH 1 was born abt 1682, died 1716. I have him married to Mary Brown. Martin FRENCH 2 is the grandson of the first Martin, son of Ignatius FRENCH. He was born about 1755. I have him married to Sarah Unknown. In a recent reply to a Brown query, I learned that Peter BROWN d abt 1795 was the brother of Mary and willed his property to be split between his children and the FRENCH children. Can anyone help sort this all out??

    3. Hi, The census records I have for my William Miles French say that his father was born in TN and his mother in VA, and he was born in OH. His children were all born in Cabell Co., VA, WV in the 1860's. It seems like they were going in circles. He was married to Martha DAVIS. I just found out her name was DAVIS and I don't know anything else about her, except she was born in VA in 1842. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? I don't have parents for William yet either. He did fight in the Civil War, a Confederate. He applied for his pension in Craighead Co., AR, and it was granted right away. He later applied for an increase and it was also granted. I have heard he was a prisoner of war, and that he owned 3 slaves before the war. Thanks for any info you may have. 3. Hi All - I haven't been paying close attention to the list but the posting by Lorri <mindream> caught my eye since it extends the French Family Association Line 1 back two generations from where I had previously understood it was stuck at (i.e. Jacob French b. abt. 1555 near Assington, Suffolk). Now there is a father to Jacob - Thomas French b. abt. 1513 in Saxmundham and a father of Thomas - William French b. abt 1509 in Saxmundham. Is this now confirmed? All the best, Ken ------------------------------------------------- Researching: Watson, Wickenden, Stanfield, French (also: Ahier, Webster, Spink, Marks, Quaife, Hoad) ------------------------------------- Genealogy Page: http://www.rideau-info.com/ken/genealogy/ Genealogy and the Internet: http://www.rideau-info.com/genealogy/

    3. I have Mary married Martin FRENCH, St. Mary's County, MD. From this list I received the following information: The dates are in line with my Martin's death, Apr 4, 1716. St. Mary's County, Maryland Administrative Accts. 1674-1720 In this book it states: The account of Mary French, Adm. of Martyn French, late of St.Mary;s County, decd. The inventory of decd. amts to L 37....03.....1., Disbursments went to Thomas Cooper, Edward Spink, John Lake; Mr. Cheseldyne for Comiss Gen Fees; John Cessell Sr. paid to sd decd's estate. Total payments; 04...03...9. Dated May 5, 1716 Somewhere along the line I picked up the surname BROWN for Mary. Does anyone connect with this family and is there any supporting documentation that Mary was in fact Mary BROWN. I'd also love to have any other information on the BROWN family Mary came from. I'd like to fill in Mary's Surname.
