Hi I am a member of the French Family Association. on a card I received December 2000 from Mara French the Editor she says nothing was published in 2000 because of her work load and the illness of her mother. The FFA has a registered web domain site but currently it is not yet ready for publication it is FrenchFamilyAssoc.com Marian
Taking care of Mara's mother is the most important thing as at the moment. I am sure she is doing the best she can. I will keep Mara in my prayers. I would be happy just to have the card as I sent a check in August. Take care all and Happy holidays. Any French From Dumerston Vt. mid - to early 1800? According to the death certificate of my grandfather - Robert Wiley Williams - 1875-1936 - his mother's name is Agusta French and he was born in Louisiana. RWW died in Natchez, MS - he was a lumberman. I do not know if French is maiden name or remarried name. Does anyone have Agusta in their line? The first time I find RWW is the day he marries in MS in 1901. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Carol, I know that there are many that think the same way you do. It is to bad that someone doesn't let us know where or how to join the French Family Association or something about the charts. Many we can start our own French Association....... I have tried on the French Charts before and have found out that the main lady who is in charge of the organization is with her mother who is very sick and she is having to spend every possible moment with her. ( I am sorry I don't remember her name) She has sent her apology that she couldn't get back with the information we needed at that time. I know it is frustrating when everyone mentions these charts. I get the impression that if a person is connected to a particular line , that is the only chart they have. This is just my guess because this is what I get from the different messages that I do see. The nice lady asked for everyone's patience until she can return to her computer full time. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol" <carolhar@coserv.net> To: <FRENCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 27, 2000 10:08 PM Subject: [FRENCH-L] Re: French Charts > I have been trying to get information about the French Charts for MONTHS > now! It would be nice if these charts could be shared on the FFA website! If people contributed them freely, we all should be able to access them freely. I can see why people get upset at seeing mentions of them but not being able to see them. Very frustrating. Perhaps we could volunteer to type some up and "upload" them to the list if nothing else!!! Mara? I know you are all wondering what happened to Mara French and the French Family Association. I've been handling all the affairs for my 91-year old mother who has had strokes and seizures for the past year now. For the past month we have had Hospice help out. Currently she is doing a bit better, but her memory is poor and she is bedridden. She has never had an operation or threat of a terminal illness in her life. I've also been holding down a full-time job. I miss genealogy terribly, but I can't get enough time to do a good job researching and putting together the newsletter. I would like to extend the membership dues for the year 2000 to include membership for the year 2001. NOTE: Nothing was published in 2000. I'll keep you informed as to when I'm able to do more. Thank you for your continued interest in the French family. Mara French French Family Association 521 River View Drive San Jose, CA 95111 The French Family Association (FFA) was founded in 1984 by four individuals interested in promoting the French surname. Volunteers have compiled nearly 200 charts on different French lines in the U.S., many of them going back to emigration from England. The FFA publishes a quarterly newsletter on its findings and on articles of interest. It also includes member queries. The FFA has a registered web domain site, but currently it is not yet ready for publication.
Try www.WorldConnect.rootsweb.com I have been there for other names but haven't tried french but most likely be some there. I have a number of the French Family Assoc newsletters so if there is something i could find there for you i would. You can join by sending imfo to a address Maybe someone will be able to give you but i'd wait till she is back after the first of the year. She is prob. doing gen in spare time but not net wise and i can see why. I am on here every day and always see someone I can help one way or other and don't even have time to putn all mine in my program and am thinking I'll have to stop and do it. It is to bad that someone doesn't let us know where or how to join the French Family Association or something about the charts. Many we can start our own French Association....... No one will reply about them! I am beginning to think they are figments of someone's imagination! Does any one out there have them?? Do they really exist? Does one have to be of Royal lineage to see them? Or can any peon, like me, know where they are? Are they hid away? Are they in some vault hidden from the world until the time is right to unveil them? I also would like information on joining the French Association, but there again no one has got back to me about that either. Guess I am a lowly red headed step cousin. Carol H.
Carol dear, be patient. Mara French usually does this but there is serious illness in family etc so she will be out for a while. Someone else is taking over, a relative I think. The charts do exist and are many. I have many of the newsletters that thye used to do but because of whatever it is with Mara, is hold up. maybe they are gone for the Holidys and will be back. There are several people that have and are doing the charts. Its a Big job as thousands of GFrench name. They keep adding when branches come to light to make it neccesary. I may have some French in a notebook on a shelf. Redo your message and put it in Family Group form with dates, places and events you have and I'll see if I can get to the newsletters. Also have you been to this site?? www.WorldConnect.rootsweb.com Go there and put your French name in and the first name and check list and go , go, you can bring up any thing with a line under and also see descendency's . Just click in the place. You can just click surname and will get names from A to Z on first and may be too many for you to check.
