    1. [FRENCH-L] Ignatius Boles, Nelson County KY
    2. Teddy Ronan
    3. I have added several wills to my site at www6.ewebcity.com/lronan. They are: Ignatius Boles, Nelson County, KY Stanislaus Melton, Nelson County, KY James Brown, Nelson County, KY William Brown, Nelson County, KY. Now for the questions. I have Ignatius Boles and Catherine Gough as parents to my Anna Bolds who married Thomas French 1798, Nelson County KY (Marriage Bond and Consent Book of Nelson County, 1785-1800). The will I have posted if that of Ignatius Boles and he mentions wife Caty. He wrote his will in 1817 and it was proved in 1817. In this will, daughter Anna Bolds (spelling) is mentioned. If my Anna was married 19 years earlier, I doubt that this is her father!!!! This really throws a wrench in my genealogy. I know of another researcher that has documented evidence of an Anna Bolds m. to a McBride, and I expect this is the father of this Anna, which leaves me without parents for mine!! Help someone please, my tree doth fall apart.

    3. Some name and place connections in your query about Thankful French made me want to see if you know of any connection between our families. John Burgess and his wife Hannah (James) Burgess lived in Foster, RI and then moved to Sterling, CT, on the RI border not too far from Westerly. Their eldest son John Burgess married Urania Mowry, also of RI. They then moved to Winfield, Herkimer County, NY, where they died, but apparently kept their ties in CT and RI, as one of their sons, Morey Burgess, returned to Plainfield, CT, to practice medicine and died in the village of Moosup. It is the wife of the eldest son of John and Urania I am hoping to identify (I outlined my suppositions about her parents and grandparents in an earlier posting). Their eldest son, Gideon Burgess, married Sally French. Many of her close relatives lived in Moosup in Plainfield, CT, near the RI border. The oldest daughter of John and Urania (Gideon's sister), Dorcus, married James Wheeler and they are both buried on the old Burgess farm in Herkimer County, NY. Sally (French) Burgess and Dorcus (Burgess) Wheeler were both born in 1776. The fact that both Wheelers and Frenches married siblings very near where your French and Wheelers lived, and not too far distant in time, makes me hope you know something more about the French family I am searching. If you do please let me know. DEAN BURGESS

    1. [FRENCH-L] Thankful French 1752-1841
    2. Hello Fellow French Folks! I am searching for any documentation on Thankful FRENCH and her family. Thankful was born Sept 21, 1752 in Westerly, RI, according to "Genealogical & Encyclopedic History of the WHEELER family in America". Thankful married James WHEELER, but I do not have a date or place of the marriage. Thankful died on November 19, 1841 in Montgomery, Hampden County, MA. According to the information that I have, her parents were William and Prudence (GAVITT) FRENCH, but I am looking for documentation that supports that. Can anyone help? Jackie (Roach) DeCamp

    3. Dear Bill, It sounds like you are talking about Aaron Davis Weld French, 1835-1896, whose "County records of the surnames of Francus, Franceis, French, in England A. D. 1100-1350," was privately printed in Boston in 1896. It is in the collection of the New York Public Library.
