    1. Lafford's Bible Record from the DAR has arrived
    2. Yeah !! First of all let me say that the Bible record is not a copy of the original, but typewritten, but was accepted by the DAR. They didn't have copy machines so readily available back when this was done. Mable Clark's application was submitted in 1942 and the Bible sent in by her when she obtained it in 1960, as she wanted her application to be correct. The DAR sent me more than the Bible record and one thing is a certified transcription of a letter from James French in Marshall Co., AL to his daughter, Love Ann Berry, written in 1861. And a narrative, from Mable Clark, of the French family which states in whose possession some other family bibles are. Everyone who wants a copy of all this, let me know and I will divide the $30.00 cost among all of us. It is a total of 8 pages, including the letter to me from the DAR. Send me your mailing address off the list. You can pay me via paypal or by check after I know how many ways we are splitting the cost. Julia French Wood

    2. Lorri French
    3. I do not know if this is kin yet or not of my gg grandfather (maybe a cousin) but here is some info sent to a subscriber on the Clark-Champaign Oh list If it does not help me it may some one else on the list: God bless Lorri I hope this helps. I am not a French family researcher, I just thought I would try to look up a few things. I don't know if you have this information or not. David M. French who served in E. 110 Ohio Infantry has the following showing on his service record. Widow's name: Elizabeth S. French [Soldier] Filed 24 Mar 1979 Invalid Pension application# 274 651 certificate# 209979 Filed 5 April 1913 Widow's Pension application# 983979 certificate#742593 widow applied in Illinois. ********* David S. French who served in the 110th Ohio Infantry was a sargent major. Filed 3 Dec.1900 application#, 1358290, pension# 1022816. Filed from State of Michigan. ******* You can send for a copy of the entire pension file from the National Archives and Records Administration with this information, and the service information that you already had. My civil war ancestor had a file over 100 pages; with copies of a letter he wrote explaining his service, copies of his marriage certificate, a letter from his commanding officer, letters from surgeons who had treated him, copies of physical exams. The file contains the full service record. The process costs about $37 per file and take a bit of time, first you send them an e-mail requesting the forms, which they then send snail mail, and you fill them in and send them in snail mail. You could probably have an answer by early October if you start now. Best regards, Joe Wright Chicago There are two David M. 2. These maps are great!! Thank you Judith. And on the one--Raritan Landing That Was 1675-1875--they include the names of land owners. Can't determine what time period this information came from within the noted 200 year timespan, but shown owning adjacent land I found John Van Middleworth, Samuel Moore, Joseph Reade (2 listings) and William French. A little distant from this group I found Cornelius Anderson, George Anderson's Mill and George Anderson. --and then my computer crashed!! -----Original Message----- From: Judith J. 1. FRENCH at a Dutch settlement in Trigg Co., KY
    2. If you've identified your FRENCH as German/Dutch. . . .some were living in Christian County in that part that later became Trigg County. But note, they were regarded as 'a thrifty, harmless and industrious class of citizens.' (grin) see early land grants below. . . It is drained by Little River and its tributaries, the most important of which are Muddy Fork and Bird's Creek. . . . "One of the oldest settlers of Trigg County, whose descendants still retain a residence here, was Thomas Wadlington. . . . He moved from North Carolina and settled on the east bank of Little River, at a place now known as Kent's Bridge as early as 1792. . . . "An old German by name of French lived at the place now owned by Joel McKinney in 1822. There were a number of other families around him, so many indeed that it was regarded as a kind of Dutch settlement. They and their descendants have all moved away from the county.
