It might be noted that Ephraim French, above, born 10 November 1751 was the son of Private William French, Billerica, MA, who served in the Revolutionary War and was born 25 January 1713, Billerica and Tabitha Pierce, she born 1716 in Chelmsford, MA. Don't know if this is any help but my French's ended up with the Howe's in Buchanan, MI. Titus French was born in 1785 in the NY, VT,MA area married in 1805 to Betsey Thayer and lived in Hague, NY and Spafford, NY befire moving to MI in 1860. The Howe's have their own cemetary in Buchanan. The Maryland French family has always intrigued me. I have an Elizabeth French born around 1800 in Maryland. One report has her parents as Steven and Eve French. (That is from old death records in Tazewell, VA and rather suspect) Does anyone out there connect? Had 2 son's Joshua b June 1812/13 there. John b aby Dec. 1813/14 there. Unk if div. or Wm. died but may still been living in 1824/6 when Joshua was called an orphan when in fact his mother was still living there in 1829. These two son's were not with her when 1820 census taken. She was mar. to Moses Brannon(an) and the 2 sons don't show up in census of 1820 in her home. She mar. to Moses as Keziah Davis in Franklin Co.In. which is connected to Dearborn on East side and probably was closest to Court House than the one in Dearborn Co. Captain William Henry's company, Col. Whitney regiment in Athol. After service of two months and 19 days ( including 19 days travel time home) in Rhode Island, he was discharged July 5, 1777.
