Question: If I pay to do a DNA test on my Farnsworth side of the family, can those results also be used for the French project ? Or must I pay and do another test ?? Hello all, David French began the French Surname Y-DNA Project almost 4 years ago and has done a wonderful job with his website and posting the results, until other commitments have taken much of his time and he has asked me to take over the Project. Since his Project was on his website, I am moving all the files to a new site. The work is slow and I am not half done, but am ready to let you take a peek. http://small-stuff.com/FRENCH/DNA/results.htm If your results are not posted, be patient with me and I will get them there, except that if you have results in the last few months, I may have to ask you to send your Ancestor Trees to me. I will be in contact with you. If you haven't joined the Project and have a male FRENCH relative, or are a male FRENCH, please, consider joining in this exciting, interesting method of genealogy research. Julia French Wood

Hello, I have to copies of the same application. One was sent to my by this list which listed Gideon's name as Gideon Richard French. I have the original copy of the War of 1812: Declaration of a Widow for Pension, It does not list any middle name for Gideon French. So who ever had email that to the list was wrong. I cannot find any information that listed Gideon's middle name as Richard. Thank You Mary
I am not sure of Palmer L French, but the FRENCHES married the HOUNSLEAS and the HOUNSLEAS were related to the LYONS. Near the end of the 19th Century, the HOUNSLEAS had several businesses. I was told, that Plumbing supplies (including gold plated) was one of their businesses. They sent sons to manage exhibit halls in Large Cities and Resort Areas, e.g. San Francisco, St.Louis, NYC, Philadelphia and ACNJ to name a few. Some of the Families remained near those locations--Look there. Hello, I am researching the French line that went up the Wabash River into Indiana. probably the brothers were: Phillip, David, Samuel, & George H. Phillip m. Sarah Randall in Aug 1812 Butler co. OH. (Cincinnati area) Phillip's oldest son was Warner b. abt.1814 (source is Phillip's probate document 1848) It sort of dawned on me like the proverbial "light bulb going off" in my head that Warner could have the surname of a grandmother or grandfather as they did in those days. Does anyone have a French who married a Warner? I found the following: ID: I47962175 Name: Elizabeth FRENCH Given Name: Elizabeth Surname: French Sex: F Birth: 3 Aug 1702 in Enfield, Hartford, Connecticut Note: REFN: 5305 Father: Richard FRENCH b: 18 Aug 1676 in Topsfield, Mass Mother: Elizabeth ??? b: Abt. 1680 Marriage 1 John WARNER on 22 Nov. 1722 Marilyn in WV
Hi Linda, The Thomas/John French line is entirely different from the Edward French line. I'm surprised that someone would move an entire house that far away. Nowadays I think houses are moved less than one mile. But, it sure would like to know more. Mara On Aug 16, 2006, at 11:17 AM, Linda F. Recently you may have seen the photos of the French-Andrews house for sale in Topsfield on the internet. Here is where Thomas French's son John lived. He was b. ca. 1637 in Ipswich, MA, and died ca. 1706 in Topsfield. Here's an old photo of his house in Topsfield. Mara Here stands the French-Andrews house, a one-story house built for John French stood upon this site about 1675. In 1718 it was sold to Joseph Andrews and some time before 1798 it was raised to two stories and the easterly end was added. In the spring of 1693, Howlett Street was laid out as a town way which passed “between Corpll French his house and barne.” The barn originally stood in the orchard on the westerly side of the road.
