I am still unable to find out if my site is back up. I keep going to http://sites.rootsweb.com/~janarmstrong. The message I receive is that I am forbidden from accessing my page. Help please. Jan, Did you have an index.htm page, or was the site accessed via another page? Just appears from the Forbidden message, that there is a possibility your site is there, if accessed with the correct url. You must ASK for it to be restored at https://useraccount.rootsweb.com/websites/restoreWebsite Pat A.
I think my ~grannyapple site on Freepages has been restored. Since I was just getting started learning to use FileZilla when everything when down, would it be best to delete the old FileZilla and start anew with the latest version? I know I will have to relearn everything from the beginning again when using FileZilla and being somewhat challenged these days at 80y old it will be difficult, so will appreciate any help anyone can give. Audrey
Audrey, You're as young as you want to feel! Open your existing FileZilla and look for the Help link - top line, last item on right. Open Help and click on Check for Updates... and the program will check for the latest update and prompt you to download it. That's all you need do, as it will install the current version and reopen itself - ready to work. When you've achieved that, check in with the list and get guidance if required as how to set it up. I checked Filezilla and it says I am up to date with the latest version, but cannot get access to server. I entered: Host: sftp://siteuser.rootsweb.com Username: Grannyapple Password: (Entered my password) Port: 22 Clicked QUICKCONNECT Left side: Local site: C:\User\ Filename Filesize File Type Last Modified [picture of a file].... Listing of files Right side: Not connected to any server
Audrey, Your username is grannyapple; not Grannyapple. The server is CaSe sensitive. Check out the following tutorial by Patricia Geary to set up FileZilla - http://sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/publishing-your-sites.html Barry On 6/08/2018 09:38, Audrey Hancock wrote: > I checked Filezilla and it says I am up to date with the latest version, but > cannot get access to server. > > I entered: > Host: sftp://siteuser.rootsweb.com > Username: Grannyapple > Password: (Entered my password) > Port: 22 > Clicked QUICKCONNECT > > Left side: > Local site: C:\User\ > Filename Filesize File Type Last Modified > [picture of a file].... > Listing of files > > Right side: > Not connected to any server >
