In FileZilla, the SFTP goes into the host "box", located top, left hand side. SFTP://sitesuser.rootsweb.com The Port is 22. You supply the User and PassWord. I am using the latest download version of FileZilla. Just 2 days old. Wishing you success, Walt Date: Tue, 31 Jul 2018 11:23:11 -0400 From: walter bruetsch <waltbruetsch@usa.net> Subject: [FreeHelp]Obtaining new password To: <freepages-help@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <418wgEPwL4800Set.1533050591@web07.cms.usa.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1" The process of obtaining a new password was successful! However, be aware that the link to move to the next webpage, where you will "enter your desired PW", needs to have a period "." after useraccount. and before .rootsweb.com. (Only 1 period: useraccount.rootsweb.com) Then, when I entered my information into FileZilla, sftp didn't work, but SFTP did. Entering all caps worked. (SFTP://sites.....) Now I can breath again. He said that sftp did NOT work in FileZilla but SFTP did work. Also, ftp is not permitted, you can only use sftp or SFTP. Plain ftp has minimal security, which is why it is no longer permitted. If SFTP does not work in your FileZilla, you may need to compare versions of FileZilla, in case different versions are picky about whether to use sftp or SFTP. In my Filezilla SFTP is selected from a pull down menu, not typed in. I normally put the sites in the site manager and don't use those one time boxes. However, I tried it and still does not work for me. I did notice that if I type SFTP Filezilla converts it to sftp. It seems that the server is not accepting the new password I recently set up. Henrik, I think you are right. It's not us who are wrong it's rootsweb's side. Every password I have changed (3 now) is not accepted. Caps or not with SFTP makes no difference. I've posted a note in to Filezilla's forum, and the immediate answer from one of their respondents is to go back to the server's admin. So over to Rootsweb I'd say. It can take up to 10 to 15 minutes for your password changes to get updated in the system. So try it again now. And if it doesn't work, then go reset your password. SFTP and sftp are the same thing.
