    1. [FreeHelp]Can't connect with FileZilla or CuteFTP
    2. Carol Regehr
    3. I have my new password for my site dasisson. I've always used CuteFTP for this, and couldn't connect using my version 8. Apparently version 8 couldn't do SFTP, only FTP. So I upgraded to CuteFTP 9.3, which can do sftp, but it still won't connect. So I installed FileZilla, and it still doesn't connect. I get the same error message that Walter was getting. I'll try again, but is there something simple that people typically overlook? Thanks, Carol Regehr--cregehr@yahoo.com

At 4:18PM EDT, I just confirmed I can connect using BOTH Filezilla and my preferred program, WS_ftp Pro. So I have to assume the parameters you are entering are not correct in some respect. One of the early errors that users committed was entering the host name incorrectly, i.e. siteuser.rootsweb.com or siteusers.rootsweb.com instead of the correct one: sitesuser.rootsweb.com Please go to sites.rootsweb.com/~pasher/ and review the instructions for uploading with various FTP clients posted there. If you still can not connect, copy the entire (failed) connection log and post it here so we can try to identify the error. Pat A.

    3. Carol, I had the engineers check the logs. It is a bad password. Please get the reset link again and change your password. And then reconnect. And that is my advice to everyone seeing an authentication failed error. 1. [FreeHelp]Back in business
    2. Carol Regehr
    3. Woo hoo! I just couldn't get into my site to ftp uploads for updates. I tried everything. I was so frustrated, I stopped trying for a couple of weeks and went off and did other household chores. Today I went through all those Freepage Help list e-mails that had accumulated since then, looking for a clue. And there it was. A discussion about the character &. Heh heh. So now we're back in business. Coffee and donuts on the house! Carol--cregehr@yahoo.com
