Assuming you are using a Windows OS, There is one other thing that has not been mentioned, but can drive webmasters nuts - and that is caching by your browser. If you have uploaded a revised version of a page to the server, and you are not seeing the updated version, try CTRL+F5 in your browser. A browser can be Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc. F5 does a standard reload. Ctrl+F5 forces your browser to ignore your cache and download the page (that you might have updated) from the server so you see what is actually residing on the server. Pat A.
